Tips to Increase Immunity

Pregnant women are at higher risk of catching certain viruses such as the flu or cold so it is always safe to take some precautions.
We wanted to give you some tips on how to use the foods you eat to boost your immune system!
First off, vitamin C is super helpful with immunity as we know, which you can find in lots of fruits, especially citrus. But did you know that zinc plays a partnering role with vitamin C? Zinc can be found in foods like nuts/seeds, legumes, and meat!
Fruits and veggies are helpful because they increase antioxidants that fight free radicals that increase inflammation. This allows your body to fight any virus it encounters more effectively. Similarly, reducing the amounts of refined sugar and refined grains in your diet can help, because sugar directly decreases the effectiveness of your white blood cells -- the ones that fight disease.
Making sure that you are 1) getting enough sleep and 2) reducing stress -- is key to giving your body a fighting chance with immunity. Both stress and lack of sleep affects the body's internal regulation and hormone levels. If you create this kind of stressful environment for your body, it will have a very hard time fighting any virus or pathogen.
Lastly, stay HYDRATED! The water will help all of your organs to function properly as well as help to flush out any toxins.
